Faux Fur, Faux Sur!

Faux fur is a major trend right now and the lux look of a vest or jacket are as statement making as they come.

This faux fur trend allows the general public (by that I mean us frugal females) to indulge in what is normally a luxurious and expensive style.  Mixing this chic piece with some simple styles like dark wash skinny jeans or a solid, neutral button up makes it look as current (and classic) as it comes.

This trend is also a bit reminiscent of Carrie Bradshaw (what style hasn’t she done) and her full length fur coats we often saw in the early seasons of Sex and the City.  Carrie would throw her furs over something unexpected like a super short cocktail dress or anything bright and colorful.  The neutral fur with the shock of color is oddly fantastic.

If you are unsure about the faux fur (like I once was) try wearing it in small doses at first, like a coat with faux fur trim or a shawl.  Once you are comfortable with that (you will be once you see how amazing it looks) you will graduate to a fabulous faux vest and finally the ultimate, faux fur coat.

So whether you wear your faux fur like in a coat over your minimalist style or as a neutral accessory to a wild wardrobe, just be sure to wear it!  Here are some of my favorite affordable furs available now!

This light grey faux fur coat from Forever 21 is long, lean and makes any ensemble look fancy for only $39!  Add a pair of elbow length gloves to keep it warm all winter.

Faux fur vests can add some real funk to your wardrobe.  These two beautiful vests at Victoria’s Secret are a bit more spendy at $78, but worth it for the style it will bring to you.
