The time has come for Bethesda Row’s 3rd annual Front Row Fashion Event! Three days (May 19-21) of fashionable fun including in-store events at more than 30 of the best Bethesda Row retailers, restaurants and more. Here’s a heads-up on some of the many events going on throughout the weekend:
Thursday, May 19 –
The weekend starts strong with brunch at J.McLaughlin (15% of proceeds go to Fashion for Paws) and then complementary makeovers at Aveda and bluemercury (12-6pm), as well as mini-spa treatments at The Spa @ Equinox (4-6pm). Trunk shows galore with a Joie at Ginger, Diane Von Furstenberg at Urban Chic, MZ Wallace at Sassanova and Satya travel inspired jewelry collection at Lou Lou.
This all leads up to Thursday’s main event, a free and open to public screening of the award winning fashion film, Bill Cunningham New York at Bethesda Row’s Landmark Theatre (8pm) . See the street style photographer and The New York Time Style Section writer doing what he does best and cameos by some of his biggest fashion fans like Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue. Friday, May 20 –
More trunk shows start day two with Roarke accessories at Sassanova, Yoana Baraschi at Ginger and Rachel Pally at Urban Chic. Make sure to get back to J. McLaughlin for a scarf-tying tutorial (something we all should attend because a scarf can be the ultimate accessory) and My Eye Dr. discounts frames from designers like Tom Ford and Prada. Get made-up at Bobbie Brown, bluemercury and Avenda.
Friday has not one, but two main events. First, the founder of People’s Revolution fashion PR firm, New York Time best-selling author of If You Have to Cry Go Outside and star of Bravo’s Kell on Earth, Kelly Cutrone will be at Bethesda Lane (5-6pm) signing copies of her new book Normal Gets You Nowhere.
The third-annual Runway Event of The Front Row starts at 7:30pm! See Kelly Cutrone and the area’s top fashionable VIPs in the front row! The runway will be filled with fashion for Summer 2011 from participating Bethesda Row retailers including Amethyst, Daddy & Son Camiceria Italiana, Equinox, Ginger, J. McLaughlin, LouLou, lucy, Luna, My Eye Dr., Pink Palm, Sassanova, Urban Chic and Wear it Well. Following the summer collection, an exclusive preview from Fall 2011 will strut down the runway. Following the fashion show, Kelly will again sign copies of her book at Lebanese Taverna, who will be serving signature pomegranate martinis and appetizers (8:30 – 10pm).
Saturday, May 22 –
The Front Row hosts its first Chic Children event with Legos on the Lane (10am-2pm) on Bethesda Lane, Barnes & Noble host a Fancy Nancy Story Time (11 am) and Cacao will showcase a cooking demonstration. A performance by Kidville’s Little Maestros on the Row (1 pm) and Urban Country will set up a Russell & Mackenna children’s furniture display. The fashion continues for adults with more trunk shows including the Julie Collection at Sassanova, Calypso St. Barth at Ginger and Shoshanna at Urban Chic.
