Our attention turned briefly from the runway to the red carpet Sunday evening for the 63rd Emmy Awards. This year the Emmys got graphic and I’m not talking about the sexually charged and super hilarious performance by SNL’s The Lonely Island. I’m talking about the star’s style with so many of the women in gowns with a graphic print. This was by far the most major trend seen on Sunday with both abstract and pretty prints in all sorts of shades, sheen, shine and sparkle. Just some of these celebs include Cat Deeley (Monique Lhuillier), Christina Hendricks (Johanna Johnson), Claire Danes (Oscar de la Renta), Elisabeth Moss (Marchesa), Gwyneth Paltrow (Emilio Pucci), Julie Bowen (Oscar de la Renta), Kelly Macdonald (Stella McCartney), Kerry Washington (Zuhair Murad), Maria Bello (Kaufmanfranco), Olivia Munn (Carolina Herrera) and Taraji P. Henson (Blumarine).
ECC’s best dresses of the evening were both bold in graphic designs. Gwyneth was gorgeous in an Emilio Pucci gown. This black beaded beauty showed off Gwyneth’s toned tummy and bared her back. Just enough skin here to be chic, sleek and unique. Also amazing was Kerry Washington in a Zuhair Murad gown in a vibrant red strapless sweetheart gown. The dress seemed to melt away as your eyes drift down to the thick hem. This was elegant on top and edgy in the end.
There are so many honorable mentions from the evening including Amy Poehler (Peter Som), Heidi Klum (Christian Siriano), Julianna Margulies (Armani Prive), Lea Michelle (Marchesa), Lena Headey and you can swoon over them all on InStyle.

East Coast Chic (ECC) began as a fashion blog in 2010. I created ECC because the diversity of style on the East Coast is inspirational and endless. ECC allows me to share my favorite fashion thoughts and spots from my headquarters in Washington, DC, as well as other trend setting states along the East Coast and beyond.
