It is important to support local designers in any way we can, but that is easy when you are able to find them all in one convenient location. Supporting these designers is even easier when you love and can afford their creations. DC garmentDISTRICT is a pop-up shop open for a limited time from February 18 to March 20 located at 1005 7th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001 (just three blocks north of the Verizon Center). The shop is a program of Shaw Main Streets, Inc. and SiNGA, Inc. and funding assistance is provided by the DC Office of Planning and with the help of Douglas Development Corporation.
The funky space with a warehouse type feel is filled with eclectic jewelry and current clothing designs from 20 local designers and art for anywhere from 50 local artists. Prices range from extremely affordable to high-end. This pop-up also has sewing classes, concerts and more. See their calendar for a listing of upcoming events.
So whether you want something new for inside your closet or something new to hang on your walls, check out garmentDISTRICT to support local talent and the Shaw community.
Also visit the Mount Pleasant Temporium open from February 18 to March 13 at 3068 Mt. Pleasant St. NW, Washington, DC 20010. The Mt. Pleasant pop-up has treasures from 30 local crafters and artists, as well as an array of special events.

East Coast Chic (ECC) began as a fashion blog in 2010. I created ECC because the diversity of style on the East Coast is inspirational and endless. ECC allows me to share my favorite fashion thoughts and spots from my headquarters in Washington, DC, as well as other trend setting states along the East Coast and beyond.

Good looking out! It’s wonderful when people take time to recognize talent in their own city. Thanks Tanya! Check me out at my blog when you get a chance & let me know what you think – http://www.dcfashionwithimanidamali.com!
