Find Fashion Anywhere!

Jelly Ballet Flat Find Fashion Anywhere! This post is a short story with an important message, so keep reading with an open mind.  I just returned from a quick trip to my soul town, New York City (Aberdeen, SD is the hometown that I love, but New York is where I am meant to be).  I shopped uptown and downtown, the east and west sides and have much to share, but must start with one purchase specifically.

During the trip, my NYC crew and I traveled to Brooklyn’s Park Slope neighborhood to visit Four & Twenty Blackbirds, a pie shop owned and operated by two small town girls from South Dakota.  The pie was amazing, but the best part of the Park Slope trip was yet to come.  While roaming the city streets I past a discount dollar type retailer.  My style sensors zoned in on a bin at the store’s front overflowing with what appeared to be shoes.  In this bin were jelly ballet flats of all sorts!  These were not just any jellies though.  In fact, they were identical to the jellies I was wearing at that very moment, which I purchased from $12 at Liz Claiborne two years ago and have been endlessly searching the internet for to no avail!  At a mere $2 a pair it took all I had not to buy every size 6 jellies the store had available.  Ultimately, I purchased five pairs of jellies for $10 that I will continue to wear and love for summers to come.

I don’t mean to just brag about my fantastic find, what I am simply trying to explain is that you can find style and fashion anywhere  and at any price if you pay attention.  Don’t limit where you look when adding to your wardrobe, keep your eyes open even when shopping for something specific and never discard something because of where you find it.  Think of this ECC style lesson next time you go out and you may be surprised at what you discover!
