Hats are a fabulous every-day accessory, but usually ignored. I’m not talking about a winter hat only worn to stay warm when getting from point A to point B. These are adorable with a scarf and coat, but can make hair flat and staticy for the remainder of the day. I’m talking about making a hat a major player in your ensemble and wearing it for the duration of the day.
The hat I think is one of the most flattering and interesting, yet often overlooked is the turban. The turban works best for those with long enough locks to casually flow out of the hat and down each side of your face. Turban’s are best worn in casual or party settings. Try a tribal pattern turban for a Saturday afternoon or velvet, dark colored turban for evening with dark wide leg trousers and a slimming light or bright colored top.
We’ve seen turban’s on celebrities like Mary-Kate Olsen, Rachel Zoe, Salma Hayek-Pinault and of course Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw. Who could forget Carrie’s multi-colored and metallic turban from Sex and the City 2. Mary-Kate also takes turban’s to another level wearing the turban headband regularly.
The turban is a statement making headpiece that will not disappoint in any setting. Try the full-on turban hat or the turban headband if you’d like to ease into this trend slowly. They are both accessories worthy enough for anyone’s wardrobe.
