Last Thursday I attended Fashion for a Cause, an event at Josephine Lounge in DC hosted by Woman of the Year candidate, Sanam Toossi, who has chosen the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as her charity of choice for her campaign. The event raised money for LLS and included a special speech from Girl of the Year’s, Molly Farrell, mother who shared with the crowd Molly and her family’s struggles and successes with lymphoma. Along with Molly’s heart-warming story was eye-catching fashion from local designers House Rossil and Samuel Ugglee.
First on the runway was House Rossil. If you’ve read ECC before you know we think House Rossil can do no wrong when it comes to design! The African/Dutch wax prints are so vibrant in person and the more I see these dresses the more versatile they become. Many can be worn to work, as a summer dress and especially as evening attire. ECC loves the open print bolero jackets over a solid sheath or just with a tank and jeans! The extremely bold fabric is bound to get you noticed so you will need to own the look wherever you choose to wear it. Samuel Ugglee designs were next in the show and he did not disappoint! Sam learned to love fashion while attending West Potomac School of Design. His goal is to make every women feel special and is determined to make UGGLEE the new BEAUTIFUL! Sam’s designs were light and fun, collegiate chic is what I like to call it. Dresses perfect for a night out in bright stripes, solids and animal prints with details including a variety of sleeve options, multiple alluring necklines and cutouts in all the right places. ECC loved the short dresses with long sleeves and turtleneck – you don’t want to give it all away at once, right ladies! Sweaters were also a key part of the collection, both long and short, prints and patterns. ECC’s favorite look of Sam’s was the varsity letter sweater mixed with animal print maxi skirt – amazing! These items may be collegiate chic, but can wear them at any age! See some of Sam’s looks below!

East Coast Chic (ECC) began as a fashion blog in 2010. I created ECC because the diversity of style on the East Coast is inspirational and endless. ECC allows me to share my favorite fashion thoughts and spots from my headquarters in Washington, DC, as well as other trend setting states along the East Coast and beyond.
