Jean-Charles de Castelbajac’s designs have adorned Disney’s Bambi, Donald, Goofy and even Mickey himself, but now he does the 101 Dalmatians. These many mutts litter his tees, tops, handbags, jackets and dresses. Mixing this cute puppy print with rich brown plaids and solid camel looked anything but childish walking down the runway. The show got even better as JC took the stage from the dogs to thoroughbreds to old Hollywood humans to stylish skeletons. The plaid got prettier to as it went to radiant red and then a brief view of cobalt blue as the show progressed.
JC is known for his far out there wear, yet most of the pieces seem oddly normal. His classy cuts and practical pairings make most of the extreme designs exciting rather than overwhelming. Whether he is using animal accents, classic cartoons or scribbled silhouettes, his work is appealing in so many ways. I would wear any of JC’s casual and couture pictured and other pieces anywhere, anytime!
You have got to see his work for yourself! See JC’s 2011 Fall Fashion Week show and his past runways to (to fully understand the creative ability of this brilliant designer) at New York Magazine.

East Coast Chic (ECC) began as a fashion blog in 2010. I created ECC because the diversity of style on the East Coast is inspirational and endless. ECC allows me to share my favorite fashion thoughts and spots from my headquarters in Washington, DC, as well as other trend setting states along the East Coast and beyond.
