Today, Michael Kors, one of my fav designers, showed his chic, understated collection on the runway at New York’s 2011 Fall Fashion Week. Fur, leather, sparkles and more made his limited neutral pallet of blacks, grays and tans anything but basic. Oh, and the vibrant pop of red near the end was a shocking, but pleasant surprise. Classic silhouettes throughout with some deep necklines, high skirt slits, draping dresses and beautiful bodysuits make the collection one of my fashion week favorites. This show was special since it is the designer’s 30th anniversary in the industry and he stayed true with his signature sportswear style.
Along with a sensational runway show, Michael is also celebrating his brand’s birthday with not just one, but multiple new store locations. The flagship store will take the place of Kenneth Cole on 5th Avenue between 49th Street and Channel Gardens at Rockefeller Center, which is scheduled to open spring 2011. Michael’s Madison Avenue store will move from its current location at 974 Madison at 76th to a larger local at 790 Madison Avenue at 67th Street.
Congratulations to Michael Kors on his past and future success in the fierce world of fashion. I hope he brings us his simple, yet luxurious style for years to come!

East Coast Chic (ECC) began as a fashion blog in 2010. I created ECC because the diversity of style on the East Coast is inspirational and endless. ECC allows me to share my favorite fashion thoughts and spots from my headquarters in Washington, DC, as well as other trend setting states along the East Coast and beyond.
