Pantyhose Art Project

While out and about in the District recently I saw this art installation by Melissa Ichiuji in a window of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center around the corner from the Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center Metro stop. It caught my eye because one of the mediums used to build this amazing sculpture of a Family Portrait was pantyhose.  This is how pantyhose should be used today!

We now have so many updated options for creatively covering our legs when wearing dresses, skirts and shorts.  Leggings, stockings and tights in multiple colors and many textures will play a major role in fall fashion yet again.  But these should not be worn for the purpose of hiding our legs – they should simply be used to add style in the cooler months of the year.  If you want a bare leg look with a skirt, just let your legs shine.  There is no need for the old school stockings (I do, however, still approve of black sheer pantyhose – so sexy).   Hopefully a work dress code does not require you to wear these outdated neutral nylons.  So ladies, flaunt your legs when you want to and get creative when you cover up!
