While we may all have one main style we are drawn to, it does not mean we can’t mix things up a bit by throwing in pieces from another style we admire and aspire for. This style mash-up of Eva Mendez and Vanessa Hudgens is a beautiful clash between classic construction and keeping it cool.
Eva’s dramatic looks made up of simple silhouettes and structured accessories are everlasting. Whether it’s a sheath dresses in floral prints or belts at the waist provide an effortless chicness like that from the scenes of Mad Men. Eva’s is the type of style I am most drawn to and my closet is full of similar items that have the same staying power.
Vanessa’s laid back, funky California girl ensembles encompass many trends at once without being too far out there. There is an ease to Vanessa’s bohemian flair that comes across as casual and comfortable. The baggy sweaters and ripped skinny jeans, loose tees and fringe handbags are all trends to rock on those relaxed, but busy weekends.
Now, maybe I’m a little style schizophrenic, but I think mixing these two lovely ladies’ styles is a fashion must. I adore the clean lines of Eva, but really, really enjoy incorporating funky trends like Vanessa often rocks all at once. Throw on Eva’s red pumps with Vanessa’s ensemble for some sexy with your calm or Vanessa’s bag with Eva’s crisp white dress to loosen things up a bit. How about belting Vanessa’s top which would create a waist and hour glass figure Eva is so well-known for. Remember that the classic pieces will always be in, so spend a bit more for quality items. Trends come and go and while it is essential to have some of these to keep your wardrobe current, it is not necessary to spend a fortune on most of these items. Mash-up your favorite star styles to create a unique look and feel of your own.

East Coast Chic (ECC) began as a fashion blog in 2010. I created ECC because the diversity of style on the East Coast is inspirational and endless. ECC allows me to share my favorite fashion thoughts and spots from my headquarters in Washington, DC, as well as other trend setting states along the East Coast and beyond.
