I recently visited the city of Danville, Virginia for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the cities connection to the fashion field and the unique shopping available in the area now. Near the North Carolina border, Danville played a major role in the industry as home to Dan River Inc., one of the largest textile mills in the world. While the textile company closed back in 2006, fashion has not left Danville completely.
During my quick trip I did some swift shopping and fortunately found the recently opened Victoria Catherine – A Consignment Boutique. Victoria Catherine (216 Collins Drive, Danville, VA 24540) was filled with chain store favorites from Ann Taylor LOFT, Banana Republic, Gap and Limited to luxury labels like Burberry, Coach, Elie Tahari and Lilly Pulitzer, as well as some vintage finds from brands unknown to me. The gently loved inventory was quality and super affordable. So affordable that my shopping partner and I walked away with one belt, one tweed jacket, four tops, five pairs of pants and five sets of shoes! I know, it sounds excessive, but the prices prevented us from having to make any decisions and allowed us to get it all. While checking out, I continued to scan the many items behind the counter that had just arrived, but not yet made it to the floor. Simply put, the selection is outstanding with new stock steadily coming in.
Victoria Catherine is an example of my kind of sightseeing. No matter where you go, how large or small the town, you should take the time to check out local antique, consignment and thrift shops. These are the best places to find unexpected and often inexpensive treasures. It is the best relaxing afternoon activity for you and those you are visiting.
Whether considering shopping or consigning, visit Victoria Catherine online for store information and details.

East Coast Chic (ECC) began as a fashion blog in 2010. I created ECC because the diversity of style on the East Coast is inspirational and endless. ECC allows me to share my favorite fashion thoughts and spots from my headquarters in Washington, DC, as well as other trend setting states along the East Coast and beyond.
