When we shop we tend to focus on one area of our wardrobe, whether that be for work or evening or weekend. But it is always best if we can take a piece and use it for not just one type of activity or time in our life.
One piece you can make work in multiple facets of your life is the usual work skirt. Normally the skirts we wear to the office are more formal, whether it is a solid pencil or structured patterned skirt. It is easier than you think to take these skirts and make them work as weekend wear as well. Try pairing a work skirt with a simple cotton tee in a basic color like bright white or heather grey.
Another way to make work skirts a bit more casual is by buying them in a shorter length than you normally would. Now, I’m not saying wear a mini to the office. Skirts can be very flattering, while remaining work appropriate, if they hit just above the knee. Shorter skirts worn with tights are also more acceptable on the job. This allows a skirt to make an easier transition from just 9-5 to anytime.
These are two simple tricks to expand your wardrobe without expanding your budget.

East Coast Chic (ECC) began as a fashion blog in 2010. I created ECC because the diversity of style on the East Coast is inspirational and endless. ECC allows me to share my favorite fashion thoughts and spots from my headquarters in Washington, DC, as well as other trend setting states along the East Coast and beyond.
