Here are a couple of super simple, yet chic style tips anyone can achieve with little to no extra effort when getting dressed. These two suggestions use universal accessories that everyone most likely already has. The best part is that these thoughts are extremely easy ways to look like you know what you are doing when it comes to style even if you don’t.
For tip one you need a scarf, any shape or size will do. Wearing a scarf may seem straightforward, but it can be done many ways. Take a cue from one of the most stylish women in the world, Sarah Jessica Parker. We are used to seeing interesting trends from her as Carrie Bradshaw, but she has a style all her own. SJP is often photographed on the streets of her home city NYC wearing casual chic ensembles. One of her usual accessories is a scarf, but she wears it in an unusual way that anyone with long hair can do. SJP leaves her long locks tucked into the scarf after wrapping around her neck. This is actually an innovative way to pull back your hair without doing the often overdone ponytail. It also creates the look of a short bob for a shock factor. Do with a light scarf while warm or thick scarf when cool (it keeps you even warmer when worn like this in winter).
Tip two requires two belts that fit you at the waist. The belts can be different colors, textures and widths or can be identical. Now just put both belts on together with the same outfit. Yes, that’s it! Mixing and wearing two belts at once shows a sense of understanding how things go together even though they aren’t initially meant to. A funkier trick to try is if you have the same belt or belts similar in size in different or like colors and patterns, when you put on buckle one belt into the other. It creates the illusion of an infinity belt and makes any look more intriguing while people try to figure out how everything is working together.
If you do not have items to attempt either of these fashion forward tips, try Forever 21 or H&M for both belts and scarves at really reasonable prices.

East Coast Chic (ECC) began as a fashion blog in 2010. I created ECC because the diversity of style on the East Coast is inspirational and endless. ECC allows me to share my favorite fashion thoughts and spots from my headquarters in Washington, DC, as well as other trend setting states along the East Coast and beyond.
